Donuts
Donuts (or doughnuts) are flour, sugar, butter, and oil. They are not good or bad. You are not good or bad if you eat them. You will not gain weight simply from eating a donut (or any one food for that matter).
I love donuts and always have. Dunkin Donuts coffee rolls, Donut King's chocolate glazed and fancy donuts of the day from the Fairmont hotel. When I was little, donuts from Kribel's bakery in Pittsburgh were a part of our Sunday morning routine with our Dad. We'd have eggs, toast, kielbasa, juice and donuts for breakfast. They were not a big deal and they were a part of our eating for the day.
If you enjoy donuts, figure out how to include them in your nutrition life in a way that keeps them in perspective. Have a donut as part of breakfast. Have a few donuts with coffee, cider, milk or tea as a snack. Make your own donuts at home. Figure out which are your favorites. If you are working with a Registered Dietitian in recovery, get support to safely plan a donut challenge when you are ready for it. Allow yourself room for sprinkles of joy in your eating plan.
